Daler-Rowney Award Winner
- Open Water 2003
In Oct 2003, I submitted my work to the prestigious Canadian
Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). This was the
first time I had ever submitted any of my work for any art
show. I was thrilled when Four Tugs and a Schooner was accepted
to be part of their annual exhibition Open Water 2003, in
Toronto. Over four hundred paintings had been submitted.
The jury of three renowned artists accepted only forty-eight
for the show. Of those, twelve received awards. Four Tugs
and a Schooner received the Daler-Rowney Award.
Twelve influential artists, including
two members from the renowned Group of Seven, founded the
Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour in 1925. For
the last 79 years, CSPWC has had a mandate to encourage
and nurture watercolour excellence. As such, it is the only
Society outside the British Isles represented in the Royal
Collection of her Majesty the Queen at Windsor Castle. The
Governor General of Canada is Patron of the Society.
