I have never visited
a wharf that was completely quiet. Even on holidays there
is always something that needs doing. And after all the
humans have finally gone, there still remain the residing
gulls, lapping ripples and waves, and the myriad other subtle
sounds, smells, and sights that tell you this is a working
wharf. Included in this scene are people and things personal
to me, such as the names of my children, Barry and Emily,
our two dogs, family vehicles, my parents' initials and
golden wedding date, my grandmother's name and birth date,
my own initials, those of my three brothers, etc. This was
a fun scene and took about fifty hours to paint.
