When I
was a little girl my mom gave me her tiny childhood tea
sets. When I worked overseas I collected a few that I treasure.
In this painting I have put together a collection of fifty-two
teapots, drawn from my own as well as those of kind friends
and family members. Special in this painting, on the top
shelf (right side), there are four generations of teapots
- my grandmother's tomato one that she had as a young bride,
my mother's Stradford she was given for her wedding in 1950,
my little childhood china one, and my daughter, Emily's,
tiny rose bud one. You may recognize some others; a British
Brown Betty, Red Rose mini teapots, three magnificent antique
sterling teapots dating back to the early 1800s, a Corningware
corn flower kitchen teapot, a cafeteria stainless steel
single cup size pot, a double spouted curiosity, gorgeous
hand thrown pieces, and several very special fine china
or porcelain examples. It seems everybody has at least one
special teapot of his or her own with cherished memories
attached to it. Can you find yours amongst these? This painting
is a large painting (22”x30”) and took one hundred
and fifty hours to complete.
