This painting
illustrates a collection of twenty-one retired lobster trap
buoys lovingly displayed as a tribute to our Atlantic heritage.
Each uniquely color coded buoy represents the long career
of a seasoned hardworking lobster fisher. Can you imagine
the stories they would tell if they could talk! The deep
pink buoy (lower left) remembers the many women of fishing,
and is dedicated to my little daughter, Emily. The bright
green buoy (mid right) remembers the many youth who helped
on their family's fishing boat, and is dedicated to my son,
Barry. This is a large painting (22”x30”) and
took about fifty hours to complete. Corporate Collection.
All reproductions
are produced from Karen Wilson's original watercolor paintings.
